This year what happens on the sidelines will be just as interesting as what happens on the pitch.Pep Guardiola (Manchester City), José Mourinho (Manchester United) and Antonio Conte (Chelsea) join Arsène Wenger (Arsenal), Jürgen Klopp (Liverpool), Claudio Ranieri (Leicester) and Mauricio Pochettino (Tottenham Hotspur) in a fast-paced environment. Aitor Karanka (Middlesbrough), Ronald Koeman (Everton), Sean Dyche (Burnley), Walter Mazzarri (Watford), Steve Bruce (Hull City) and Claude Puel (Southampton) also enter the war. There is no truce on the bench.

There can have been few, if any seasons, certainly not in the EPL, where the overwhelming majority of interest and anticipation has been centred around the technical areas rather than the players.
